Tucked between the Pacific Ocean and the mountains, Carpinteria offers a small town atmosphere close to both Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. Watermark is only steps from Linden Avenue, Carpinteria's quaint downtown district with several boutiques, antique shops and dining delights. Only a few blocks away is miles of sandy beaches where you can spend the day sunning, surfing, or enjoying the tide pools. There are several hiking and walking trails throughout the area where you can adventure by the ocean, up into the mountains and along the orchards. Carpinteria is home to the yearly Avocado Festival in October with good food, local crafts, fresh produce and music.Only 12 miles north of Carpinteria is Santa Barbara where you can experience fine dining, luxury shopping, several museums, polo fields, the Botanical Gardens, historic Mission and wonderful Zoo. Visitors to the area can also take a lovely drive to Santa Ynez's world class wine country right in Santa Barbara's backyard. About 24 miles south is Ventura where you can take a boat trip to the Channel Islands National Park and go whale watching. A visit to downtown Ventura offers a historic mission, antique and boutique shopping and a variety of restaurants. Carpinteria is also close to Ojai, with its world class spas, wineries and the Los Padres National Forest.
